12) Why is the universe regenerating and is nature greater than we imagine?

(Updated 25th Apr 2012)

Nature is the term generally refers to all the masses and energies that exist before our vision and all the events that manifest before our knowledge, whereas the term universe refers more to the imaginary spatial extent in which all things, energies and events exist in interaction. However, they all refer to the same vast contents, which are limitlessly huge and timelessly existing in repetitive regeneration and evolution. So, in short, we may call the universe a Regenerating Universe, because Evolution is the accompanying consequence of Regeneration!

To start with, the basic Law of Conservation states that total Mass and Energy in the universe are conserved. They can neither be created from nothing, nor destroyed into nothing, but they are mutually convertible. This Law is strictly fundamental to the attitudes and methods of physical science, and is maintained in effect not only by theory but also by observation. Imagine if the contrary were to be true, then the contents of universe could suddenly appear or disappear at any time or any place at random without cause. That would render the working of science totally baseless, chaotic and absurd. No, the manifestations of universe and nature's laws or sciences are precise, exact and timeless! It also means that the Law of Conservation must be observed!

Well, if we accept that total mass and energy cannot be created or destroyed at random, then there could not have been a sudden occurrence such as the Big Bang, or any kinds of sudden Creation. Yet if total mass and energy are conserved but convertible, then what's left for the universe to do can only be regeneration with evolution, which is exactly what's observed! Regeneration and evolution are observed everywhere in the universe and in life. As each time nature effects a cycle of regeneration, it also learns, improves and advance a small step towards better organization and perfection. This is the phenomena of evolution. It is a common knowledge that our earth has evolved from a primeval state of molten lava, to the present environment of beautiful green pastures. Human civilization has evolved from a primitive state of barbaric struggle to the present order of logic and rationality as well as demand for human rights. In fact, theory of evolution leaves no doubt that human beings are evolved from primates, a.s.o..

Evolution requires time and continued cycles of regeneration. The fact that laws of physics or ways of nature have long reached constancy and invariance, it must have taken nature over countless eternities of evolutions to acquire the present scientific perpetuality and exactness. Of course the laws of sciences and nature are the very unchanging basics of nature, they should be first in place and perfected before arrival of living beings. Besides, there is nothing to prevent time and space from being infinite, therefore the age of universe can be and must be infinite because the laws of nature have already reached evolutionary perfection... Living creatures, such as animals and humans are the late or later developed beings of nature, they are the evolutionary products of one of  the most advanced and environmentally suitable solar system in the universe. Their evolutionary or civilized awareness had been developed and started barely just some thousands of years ago. Yet the ongoing process and progress of evolution proves and bears further witness to the required functions of the universe, which means nature must continue to regenerate and evolve regardless of time or age.

Now let's take a different aspect. In 1990 the American National Aeronautical and Space Administration (NASA) launched the Hubble Space Telescope (HST) into space. One of the essential projects was to observe and measure the rate of Expansion of the Universe. After 8 years of work by the HST Key Project Team the task was achieved. The observed result was announced in early Spring of 1998. The announcement declared that the universe is not just expanding, it is, in fact, expanding with increasing speed. This conclusion was confirmed in 2001 by another team of scientists from the European Southern Observatories (ESO) group using various ground based telescopes.... The combined work by scientists also brought about the following important additional conclusions and consequences:-

The speed of light or electromagnetic radiation has been confirmed to be constant (Wavelength x Frequency = Constant), therefore it has a fixed or maximum range of dispatch, and beyond the limit of light speed the images of objects or information cannot be seen or observed. Yet, during the entire process of observation both spatial and ground-based telescopes all reported that galaxies are receding with accelerated speeds, and there is nothing in space to slow down or stop their receding speed. Therefore galactic objects must continue to recede with the same increasing speed even after they have moved out of the range or the limit of the speed of light, or they have become unobservable since light has no power to move beyond its own limited speed. Therefore the constant speed or fixed speed of light limits our vision to a maximum distance of about 13-14 billions years of light, beyond this distance the limited speed of light renders objects and information unobservable. However, it's obvious that the universe is far bigger than the limits of our vision, because even at the maximum observable distance galactic objects are still receding away from us with increasing speed. (To understand how light waves or electromagnetic radiations are created, and why speed of light is constant, please read Page 6) Where and how are light waves (electromagnetic radiations) created?)

So up to this point in this page, my effort shows that due to conservation of mass and energy in the universe, we are unable to ascertain a limit for age of the universe, but if we disregard the Law of Conservation, then physical science can't even start to work properly. Now we have also come to the point that all available telescopes, both spatial or ground based, can only observe up to a maximum distance of 13 to 14 billion light years far, beyond this distance although the universe is still expanding and receding with acceleration but the limited speed of light does not permit our telescope to see any further. So not only the age, but also the size of the universe are beyond our observation, and therefore, beyond our knowledge, even beyond our imagination! This is a barrier of nature that can never be improved over time! In the meantime, let's see if there are other unexpected capacity of nature that could equally surprise us beyond our imagination? There appears to be many!

First of all, the power of the universe. Can we possibly imagine or visualize in any degree of likelihood a similar but existing power or energy that could possibly shift the entire universe to move in acceleration? We don't even know the size of universe, how can we image responsibly the power required to move it! But one thing is sure, the power of the universe is truly "almighty" and incomparable to anything within and beyond our imagination.

Secondly, observations tell us that all things in the universe try to perpetuate their existences, be they as big as a solar system or a spiral galaxy or as small as a force symmetry inside an atom, or just in living things, such as animals or vegetables, etc., etc, which are also trying to prolong their lives, or their species.  Every thing and very life strives to maintain its own existence and even its own mode of continued existences. Some would try to continue their species by creating off-springs. There is a power or energy behind such a drive or desire. In other words, there exist undeniably in nature a Will to continue, or a Will Power. Yet we usually attribute the Power of Will as a capacity belonging only to living things or intelligent beings, when in fact it is prevalent in the entire universe. Can we regard the universe as a completely lifeless, inert and insensitive thing, or can we regard it as a living, wishing and desiring entity, with such power of Will? Or to look in a different way.  Is human nature part merely a of the greater nature, or is the great nature part of human nature? Why do I ask? Because there are lots more that appear to mean lots more!

There exists in nature also the Power of Purpose, which is practically a spiritual power, because for every action there is also  a reaction, as well as cause or reason to react. Often the reason is a good purpose, not just in human life but in the life or function of nature. For instance, in the making of nature, gravitational waves are created from electromagnetic waves, (Please read next Page 13) The nature and origin of gravitation) so that waves may propagate and transmit power over distances to provide both expansion and contraction, and consequently making a living, regenerating and evolving universe! That is one good purpose! Yet that's not all, there is a more intricate reason and purpose. The gravitational wave is chained and dependent on its twin the electromagnetic wave, so that when there is no expansion, there is also no contraction. In other words, nature is designed not to act independently on its own, so that it can squeeze the universe into one irreversible solid piece by accident!  In short, only when there are purpose and orders in the making of the universe, the constituents of the universe would not function and operate in absurdity. There is a purpose in everything and every design, just as we do eat in order to live and work!

Lastly, there also must have the Power of Organization, or the means and facilities for detailed structures or operations that serves well with the Will Power, which initiates and also with the Purpose Power, which causes or supports the initiation, as well as with the exact amounts of Physical Power required for executing and perfecting the operation. The structural organization of the universe is far too numerous and complex to be named or describe here. Alone all the things, objects and structures from cosmic level down to atomic level that exist on earth are far too numerous to be named, let alone described. Think of the infinite varieties inorganic and organic compound and systems, or think the billons of vegetations and plants on earth or those billions of animal from elephant to insects, they all exist and live in coordination with other systems or species on earth. Each and every single entity bears the powers of will, of purpose, of  structural properties designed to exist and co-exist with other entities on earth. Yet all are evolving and edging towards improved orders of existences. It would take the human still millenniums just to know how many there really are!

We don't even know what really exists on Moon, let alone what's on Saturn, Jupiter or even Pluto! We have hardly started work on our solar system, let alone on our Milky Way galaxy, which is just one galaxy in an infinity of galaxies! So, finally what about the universe or nature? Is nature greater than we can possibly imagine? Is every beauty or miracle that exist in the universe the direct consequence of regeneration and evolution of the universe? Because if it is, then inevitably soon people will want to know the followings:-  In every legal marriage, in every court proceedings and every inauguration of important political office or leadership, etc., the oaths and sworn promises are still dependent and based on traditional mode of made-belief, would they all someday become null and void, or simply meaningless? It may be too early to be concerned now, but the question can be serious!....  Because, the Power or Energy of Will, of Purpose, of Organization and of such mighty Physical Power are prevalent in every meaningful action and reaction in the universe.

These are all the Physical and Metaphysical  Energies operating in Harmonization, which enable nature to coordinate and harmonize, since the universe does not appear to exist in conflict or absurdity! These are also the energies that drive and perpetuate the universal regenerations and evolutions. That's why evolution always heads towards greater organization and advancements. But if regeneration and evolution are heading for improved orders and advancement then we may be sure that nature is greater and mightier than have imagined!
